Eligibility Requirements
Eligible candidates must have the following:
- Received a Bachelor’s degree by June 30, 2022
- Maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher on the last 60 semester or 90 quarter units
- Has not previously served as a teacher of record on any teaching credential
- Fulfilled all eligibility requirements for admissions to the credential program at CSULA
- Fulfilled all eligibility requirements for admissions to the Master’s program at CSULA
- Fulfilled subject matter requirements for teaching math or science in one of these two ways:
- Completion of a CCTC-approved subject matter program by June 30, 2022
- Pass all sections of the subject matter CSET exam(s)
- MATH: Subtests I, II & III need to be passed by December 15, 2022
- SCIENCE: Subtests I, II & III need to be passed by December 15, 2010. Subtest IV is not required
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status
Competitive candidates will have the following attributes:
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written tasks
- Ability to provide leadership as an advocate for equity
- Ability to work collaboratively in complex situations
- Ability to persist in challenging or ambiguous conditions
- Ability to maintain high expectations for every learner in every situation
- Ability to reflect critically on his or her own work and respond constructively to feedback
Selected candidates will demonstrate the following commitments:
- Commitment to partnering with parents and community leaders to close the achievement gap
- Commitment to teaching in LAUSD for a minimum of 3 years after completion of residency
- Commitment to addressing the learning needs and strengths of every student
- Commitment to continuous learning as an educator in high needs schools in LAUSD
- Commitment to closing the achievement gap
